Team ONE MILE is on a mission to support the Wisconsin camp known as “Camp Hometown Heroes”. This summer camp brings in hundreds of children from all over the country that one have thing in common. They have all lost their hero, a parent or sibling who has bravely served our country. They road 700 miles across the state in 6 days and raised over $100,000 dollars.

Team ONE MILE stopped into Stevens Point Thursday and Friday, September 12th & 13th. We welcomed them September 13 for breakfast before they headed out for their next stop!

Sept 10, at our VFW Post, Barbara Sigmund of the Quilts of Valor organization presented a Quilt to family members who wrapped Marine Vietnam Veteran E-3 Edward Liebe with the quilt. It is awarded to a Service Member who has been touched by war. Among the words spoken, “today it is our honor to award you this Quilt of valor. As you are wrapped in the warmth of the quilt, we ask you to accept a hug. It comes not only from us but from all of our Quilt of Honor members.”

Scott Johnson, Mike Yankee, Duane “Edy” Lepak, and Dale “Orly” Orlikowski claimed victory Saturday at the 19th Annual Plover Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10262 Golf Scramble.

Honoring the Stars and Stripes ~ Post and Auxiliary presentation on August 1 2024 at Wellington Place at Whiting Assisted Living facility. Post member Tim along with Auxiliary members Ann and Peggy presented Honor Quilts from Silver Threads of Portage County.

The topics presented with a Power point and hand outs were:

• The meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance
• Flag History including Flag Day origination here in Wabeka, Wi
• Flag etiquette.
• Displaying the flag properly
• The Flag during military funerals
• The meaning of the 13 Folds of the Flag with demo
• Proper Disposal of the flag
