Post 10262 presents a POW/MIA Flag to the UW-Stevens Point Veterans Club

Plover VFW Post 10262 presented a POW/MIA Flag to the UW-Stevens Point Veterans Club at their monthly December meeting. The club, one of more than 1600 chapters of Student Veterans of America (SVA), helps ensure that student veterans and military-connected students achieve their greatest potential.

Halloween Party

The Gray Catz Band played a variety of music for listening and dancing pleasure that included a special surprise guest appearance by “Elvis!” Cash prizes were awarded for Best Female Costumes, Best Male Costumes (won by “Elvis), and Best Couple Costumes. An assorted spread of complimentary snacks was provided by the Plover VFW Event Committee.

5th Annual Car and Truck Show

The Plover VFW Post 10262 5th Annual Car and Truck Show held on Sunday, September 21st. Car owners competed in 9 different trophy classes, with a Chevy Belair “Nomad”, ​owned by Jim and Sue Haessly of Junction City, taking a $75 prize for Best of Show. The show also offered basket and 50/50 raffles, and a steak and omelet breakfast was served by the Plover VFW Rifle Squad.

Save A Lot Team Wins Plover VFW Golf Scramble

The Save A Lot – Stevens Point golf team foursome of Zach Berard, Chris Trantow, Brody Trantow and Sawyer Krambs captured the top spot by one stroke on Saturday in the 20th Annual Plover Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10262 Golf Scramble.

The winning team was presented with an artillery shell-styled VFW golf trophy in a ceremony at the Post. Team members’ names will be engraved upon the trophy. The winning team also received a round of golf for four, courtesy of Wisconsin River Golf Club, and players each received a dozen golf balls.

Twenty-five teams participated in the fundraising scramble under partly sunny skies at the Wisconsin River Golf Club in Stevens Point, which kicked off at noon with a shotgun start fired from a 105mm Howitzer, courtesy of the Bravo Battery 1/120 National Guard Unit.

The event also featured special hole challenges, a catered banquet dinner and basket raffles afterwards at the Post.

Funds raised will be used for local area veteran needs and community support.
