VFW Post 10262 Participates in Flag Day Ceremony
On June 14, members of Plover VFW Post 10262 joined the Elks Lodge 641 of Stevens Point and American Legion Post 6 in honoring the American flag during the Elks Lodge’s annual Flag Day Ceremony. Traditional Elks Lodge 641 readings highlighted the history of the flag and the sacrifices made by generations of Americans who have defended our nation’s freedoms.
The ceremony opened with a rifle volley salute by Plover VFW Post 10262 and American Legion Post 6 members. VFW Honor Guard members Tim Bubla and Debbie Manthey then performed a traditional flag-folding ceremony while VFW Chaplain Bob Decker read the meaning behind each of the thirteen folds, reminding attendees of the values and sacrifices represented by the American flag.
The ceremony proved especially meaningful as participants reflected on the approaching 250th anniversary of the United States and remembered the generations of American men and women who have given their lives in service to the nation.
